What to expect

Coming to therapy may be a daunting thought. Reaching out is often hard for many clients. The first step is to contact me. Please remember to give me a brief description of your main issue. I will then get back to you – please note I am often in session and can only get to emails, phone calls or texts  at set intervals. I work primarily with emails for this reason.

After the initial booking is set up, you will receive an email reminder the day before your appointment.

Each session booked with me I prepare for. Should you not be able to attend a session I need 24 hours’ notice in order to fill your appointment. Failure to meet this requirement will result in your appointment being charged. This keeps both you and me accountable for these sessions.

During your first session a consent form will be discussed. As such, all relevant information will be covered so that you are fully informed about the therapeutic process and around confidentiality. Should the session be online, a copy of the form will be sent to you for your signature to continue sessions. We will also get to know each other better and discuss your expectations for therapy. I may use some questionnaires to help with this process. After a better understanding of each other and the issue being faced, the frequency of sessions is agreed upon. Frequency and goals often change as therapy continues but are always mutually agreed upon.

During subsequent sessions we will work on developing an awareness of yourself and ways in which we can reach your goals. You will be supported to apply skills learnt in therapy to your daily life.

Payment for sessions is due on the day via electronic transfer or cash (unless an agreed upon alternative arrangement has been discussed).
